Continuing the series of images from the Shaykh’s room. Here’s a few verses from the renowned sufi poet of the Punjab Hz Bulle Shah (ra).

Famous verses of Hz Bulle Shah (ra)
The verses mean:
Repetition of the Alif* leads to freedom
From this Alif came the twos, threes and fours
then came the the hundreds thousands and millions
multipying then into the countless things
but the secret of Alif is rare and precious
Repeating this Alif leads to freedom.
* the Alif is the first letter of the Singular Divine Name: Allah. This is the according to the sufis the name of the Essence.

Insha’Allah I hope to put up some pics that graced the walls of Hz Khadim-e-Mohabbat (ra). He was very fond of pics of the awliya. To start off though here’s something that a dervish from Sindh who came to visit the shaykh presented to him. The words are in Sindhi and mean: “O Allah only allow such people to enter onto us who cause joy to come to our heart”.

The master, Hz Khadim-e-Mohabbat, departed from this realm on the 12th of December 1988. Thus today is the twentieth anniversary of his passing. In accordance with sufi custom his Urs is celebrated every year at his tomb in Jhelum, Pakistan. What can a poor lowly beggar offer to a King? These words of Hz Mawlana Rumi (ra), to whom the master was much devoted convey something of that helplessness.
I stand at the door of mysteries
you are light
you are festival
you are fortune, God-confirmed
you’re the bird of Mount Sinai
I the wounded captive in your beak.
I can do no better than to reming myself and others of the teaching of the master which is summed up in these words of his: ” It is better to have knowledge of Love than to have love of knowledge”.

-What is Sulook? To take out something from a body and enter something into it.
- Try and be of service to others and do not attempt to have others serve you; the more useful you are, the more valuable you will become and thus be made more dearer.
-By subjecting “the good” to our standards we have made it fall from its own standard.

Even the Ism al-Azam (Greatest Name) as far as it is only a Name is not beneficial untill and unless its remembrance is in accordance with the courtesies and demands of the Remembered. All this is only possible when one receives knowledge of this Name (directly) which in turn is only possible when knows the Named and is guided by Him. Any Name that puts right all affairs is certainly praiseworthy.

There have been requests for more sayings of Hz Khadim-e- Mohabbat (ra). Unfortunately heedlessness has prevented me from complying with this so far. Here then are few more gems from the Master.
- The lack of action (amal) gives birth to verbal incontinence (jaryan e kalam); jaryan* is an illness which is an enemy to manhood.
- An angel can never be the “examiner” of the syllabus of Love; if you want to be saved from the questioning of the angels nurture the love of theĀ Holy Prophet (pbuh)…..and hell is nothing but the disgrace of being questioned.
- Prayer (namaz, salat) does not remove desires from us but rather it purifies them and makes them useful for us and abandoning prayer leads to the impurity and straying of natural desires and instincts. That is why prayer is the cure for impurity and lewedness. Prayer prevents us from shamelessness (be-hayai) by bringing our shame (haya) to life;…..and the constant attention towards the presence of Al-Hayy at the level of complete certainty (haqq al-yaqin) is a type of shame; and in the face of this eternal presence of al-Hayyul Qayyum to be heedless of Him and attentive towards oneself is pure shamelessness.
* jaryan is normally used to describe seminal incontinence (leading to a wastage of this vital fluid).

A few sayings of Hz Khadim e Mohabbat (ra) as indicated in the last post. These are all to be found in an-Nahl which is a collection of statements by the shaykh and are a source of sufi teachings as well as being a reflection and testimony of the continued existence of the awliya within this ummah.
- According to Waris Shah (ra) Hz Ghouth al Azam was in the station of “HU”. Therefore amongst other reasons for the special connection of the number 11 with the shaykh is also that the numerical value of HU is 11. (thus H(5)+ U(6)=11).
- How generous are words (huruf) that when through a persistent struggle one succeeds in attaining union with meanings (ma’ana) they step aside……for if one only reaches words and does not enter into meanings this will lead to heedlessness (ghaflah). The sounding of words will lead to doubts (ashkaal) and this will be the beginning of difficulties(mushkilaat), therefore, ascending them is the right course. Thus it is that Hz Ghouth al Azam (ra) said that it is the will(mashiya’) of God that we should struggle against His will….. the sounding of words will generate waves of many colours which will generate an atmosphere( mahol) and which will become your state (haal). That’s why it is forbidden to disturb the possessor of a state (sahib e haal).
- Certainty (Yaqeen) is manifest in every atom of the universe….and certainty is the greatest helper (Ghouth al Azam).

It is the blessed month of Rabi as-Sani a time of remembrance of our master Sultan al-Awliya Syedna Shaykh Abd al Qadir Jilani ( may Allah be well pleased with him). I have written about the Shaykh here. Hz Khadim e Mohabbat belonged to the Qadiri silsila in terms of outward transmission and affiliation whilst being an Uwaysi of a very rare kind internally. He was not given to emphasizing the rasoom (customary practices) of the Sufis without however denying them. Therefore his love for the awliya was often expressed in a quiet and sober way without thereby losing any of its depth. I hope to put up some of the saying of Hz Khadim e Mohabbat connected to Syedna Ghouth al Azam in the next few days insha’Allah.
